The Praxis 5165 recently replaced the Praxis 5161 as the certification exam for high school math teachers.

Compared to the 5161 exam, the Praxis 5165 is:

  • Slightly longer - The 5165 test has 66 questions over 3 hours, where the 5161 had 60 questions over 2.5 hours.
  • More comprehensive - The 5165 exam introduced questions about the task of teaching mathematics, in which you will apply your content knowledge to instructional scenarios.
